Twelve Year 10 Students visited the University of Birmingham on 6th March 2012 to compete against 40 other schools and 96 teams across the West Midlands in the Big Maths Quiz. The students were split into 3 teams of 4 taking part in 7 rounds which included number, geometry, matchstick problem solving, applying Maths problems, and the life and times of Galileo.

The three teams finished 18th, 24th and 28th out of 96 teams which means they were in the top 25% in the West Midlands for their age group. The questions were set by lecturers and students of the University in encouraging problem solving. The students enjoyed the day and felt they had learned and reinforced their knowledge of Maths in the company of leading Mathematicians.

Core 2 revision day

Sixth form students experience a day recapping topics in preparation for their Core 2 exam at the end of May.

Working collaboratively students were able to solve complex exam problems. An inspirational day where students were able to stretch their mathematical thinking in order to develop their exam techniques so they are more prepared for their exams in the next few weeks.
Good luck to them all.
