Performing Arts - Year 9

In year 9 pupils have the opportunity in music to explore composition and performance. They explore many different genres of music where they have the opportunity to interpret and re-create work that is contemporary and appealing. The history of music is also a fundamental tone of the year 9 curriculum delivery to ensure that pupils understand the roots and heritage of music through the ages to where we are today.

In drama students have the chance to look at a range of genres, styles and structures of devised work and scripted work. Pupils will work on developing their skills as a performer; understanding the demands of being a disciplined actor and the opportunities that come from the subject.  Pupils will get the chance to work on more advanced work, such as practitioners and physical theatre towards the end of the year to ensure that there is an easy transition from KS3 to KS4.
