Data Protection

Under data protection law, individuals have a right to be informed about how the academy uses any personal data that we hold about them.  We comply with this right by providing ‘privacy notices’ (sometimes called ‘fair processing notices’) to individuals where we are processing their personal data. This privacy notice explains how we collect, store and use personal data about pupils.  Central Region Schools Trust (the Trust) is a ‘data controller’ for the purposes of data protection law.  The Trust has delegated responsibility to the Principal/Head of School in each of the Trust's schools for ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Please see our Policies page to review our Data Protection Policy.

Use of Photographs, Videos and Digital images

We really value using photographs and videos of students, to be able to showcase and celebrate what our students do in school and to show what life at our school is like to others.  We use images of pupils as part of school displays and newsletters, on the school’s website, on social media and for publicity purposes in printed publications, such as newspapers.

From time to time, our school may be visited by the local media and press, who take images of school events. Pupils may appear in these images, and these may be published in local or national newspapers, or on approved websites.

The Central Region Schools Trust and its family of schools may also wish to use images of your children in their promotional publications.  For the list of CRST schools go to https://centralregionschoolstrust.co.uk.    Where any organisations other than those listed here intend to use images of your child, additional consent will be sought before any image is used.

To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) we need your consent to take images of your child and use them in the ways described above.  When your child starts at the school you will be issued with a consent form (aslo attached below).  This form is valid from the date of signing until your child leaves the school.  Photographs and videos used for publicity purposes may remain in circulation after your child has left school.  Parents have the right to withdraw their consent at any time, but it may not be possible to remove images that are already in circulation or have already been published, although every effort will be made to do so.  If you would like to withdraw your consent, you must submit your request in writing to the Principal.

If you have any other questions, please get in touch via the school email address office@arrowvaleacademy.co.uk.
