12 Feb CEIAG Workshop
On 9th February, David Williamson from TRANSPOREON, the leading global cloud platform for intelligent transport logistics, came in to school to talk to us about his job as Global Account Manager. He told us how he travels around the globe selling his company’s SaaS software and how he then maintains that relationship with the client.
The role sounded exciting because he gets to go to Thailand and Germany and Italy to sell their product but it also sounded demanding getting up at 4am on a Monday to catch a flight and not getting back home till midnight on the Friday.
He also talked about targets he has to meet so we realised that there was a lot of stress in his job.
David explained that Software as a Service (SaaS) was already a massive thing in mainland Europe and that it was growing here. Commonly in the UK we use SaaS to do our online banking. Over in Europe they use it for many more functions and David explained that SaaS would be the major employer in tomorrow’s world.
His company’s SaaS creates a digital connection between shippers and carriers, achieving smarter, transparent and more cost-effective movement of goods around the world. By digitizing the entire logistics supply chain, it also enables real communication and collaboration across the worldwide shipper-carrier community.
In David’s workshop we not only learnt what his company and their product too but he talked to us about common values and skills required by the business world in general.
We’d like to thanks David for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and talk to us.
