At Arrow Vale Academy, we recognise the importance of high quality extra-curricular activities for our students’ development. As part of our commitment to providing the very best experiences, we are delighted to now offer the chance for our students to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) is an excellent programme which offers young people the chance to gain recognition for the skills and experiences that they gain as they grow. In a survey of major UK employers, the DofE Award was ranked as the top activity for young people to take part in alongside their studies to help them develop skills in communication, initiative, teamwork and confidence. (United Learning Trust, 2019)
The Award consists of four sections:
Participants can choose to complete their award using activities on offer as part of our extra-curricular programme or activities that they take part in outside of school so there is a way for everyone to get involved.
The Award is completed in three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. We offer bronze in Year 9, year 10 and Year 12 and in the future will offer Silver in year 10 and Gold as part of our Sixth Form provision.
