20 Sep Nursing Awareness Workshop
A senior lecturer came into Arrow Vale with 10 of her adult nursing students to run a Nursing Awareness Workshop.
The first part of the workshop the student nurses taught our students basic life support, hand washing techniques, how to take a temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure, how to pass a naso gastric feeding tube and anatomy.
There was a Question and Answer session before the practical workshops started, during which our students asked all about how to enter a range of health care professions, the requisite skills, qualities and qualifications and about progression after qualification. The nursing students were really impressed at the level of questioning from our students and praised them on their participation in the practical workshops.
There was a buzz amongst our students after the sessions and we hope they feel more secure in securing their dream job in the health care sector. We would like to thank Birmingham City University for giving up their time to come and answer all our career related questions.
