24 Sep Raising Aspirations Programme
Today a selection of our students began our raising aspirations program of opportunities for the year by attending their first assembly delivered by India Collins-Davies from Oriel College, the University of Oxford. The students, from years 11,12 and 13, received information about both Oxford and Cambridge including what makes them different from other Universities such as their collegiate system, tutorials and rich, prestigious history that sets them apart as some of the most highly valued universities in the world. The assembly both inspired students to think more broadly about the opportunities available to them and set them into action into researching courses that might be of interest. This begins a substantial program of information assemblies, careers days, open day trips and residential visits that are planned this year through the links between universities and CAEIG contacts that Arrow Vale has developed. India was clearly inspirational in her delivery as seen by the hoards of students who stayed behind for a question and answer session that lasted around 20 minutes after the assembly had finished. Hopefully we will see the other events in the pipeline be as successful in challenging our students to make the very best of themselves!
