03 Mar Recommended Advice on Novel Coronavirus COVID-19
Whilst we have no current concerns regarding the Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 here at RSA Academy Arrow Vale, we thought it would be helpful to bring to your attention the recommended advice issued by the Department of Education and Public Health England.
The guidance below for Italy, Iran, Daegu or Cheongdo (Republic of Korea), Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam applies to individuals who returned from these specific areas on or after 19 February 2020.
|Category 1 countries/areas||Category 2 countries/areas|
|Wuhan city and Hubei Province (China)||Cambodia|
|Daegu or Cheongdo (Republic of Korea)||Hong Kong|
|Any Italian town under containment measures||Italy: north|
|Republic of Korea|
Latest Guidance on Areas of the World with the outbreak:
Category 1: Travellers should self-isolate, even if asymptomatic, and call NHS 111 to inform of recent travel. Go home or to your destination and then self-isolate.
Category 2: Travellers do not need to undertake any special measures, but if they develop symptoms they should self-isolate and call NHS 111.
At the present time the Public Health England advice for persons who display the key symptoms of a cough, shortness of breath or a temperature after visiting the above areas, is that they should remain at home, self-isolate and contact NHS 111. The NHS will then give appropriate advice. As a school, should any student or staff member develop symptoms of the virus we would be guided by our local Public Health England Health Protection Team as to the appropriate course of action.
Equally, the school has reinforced with the staff and visitors the importance of high levels of hygiene at all times. I have included the latest information links:
In the meantime, RSA Academy Arrow Vale will be open as normal and students expected to attend. We will continue to keep parents/carers informed of any changes to the advice being given to us by Public Health England and would advise you that, if in doubt, you should seek further assistance from NHS 111.
Thank you for your support and attention in this matter.
