24 Sep Tomorrow’s Engineers Energy Quest Workshop
Jared, a STEM expert, and Rob came in to school in September to deliver a “Tomorrow’s Engineers Energy Quest Workshop” which is a free schools programme that encourages young people to find out all about sustainable energy and learn about associated engineering careers. Year 10 Technology students took part.
The first part was an Energiser Workshop; an interactive STEM workshop which was packed with hands-on activities, careers information and stories from Rob – a real engineer who had previously worked for F1. Students received their own workbook to capture learning as they explored concepts of energy generation, sustainability and technologies. The best bit was building, from scratch, our own moving vehicles. The groups whose vehicle went the furthest won.
Here are some of the comments made by the students…
“We made electric cars and tested them. We also learnt about the qualifications that we would need and what paths we could take in engineering.” Alex M.
“I found the leader of the group inspiring and motivational”. Jake V.
“I really enjoyed the tomorrows engineers event because it was fun and I found out what different engineering jobs are available”. James K.
“I found tomorrows engineers interesting, the activities were fun and it was fun to try and work out how to get the car moving.” Harmony M.
