Students who wish to continue into Higher Education will be supported with excellent information, advice and guidance.
We run a range of trips and host several events to ensure our students make an informed decision; we visit the UCAS HE Guidance Fair, a local university for extra direction on personal statements, and welcome a number of external visitors in relation to apprenticeships, employment and other avenues for Post 18.
We work closely with a number of universities including Birmingham, Keele, Nottingham, Aberystwyth and Worcester. This enables our students to access programmes such as Birmingham University’s A2B or Keele University’s Access to the Professions. We also take part in a large number of masterclasses and summer schools which allow our students to fully prepare for university life.
Students who have shown the ability to apply for Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science are met frequently to ensure that their studies are progressing well and that they still have the option to apply for the most competitive courses.
Students who are called to an interview have a mock interview at school with either the Head of Sixth Form or a visitor from a local university.
